My Journey to Being Vegan

When I was a little girl up to grade 8 - I would grocery shop with my mom. Up and down the isles we would walk - and then the meat department! Many times I had seen her throw the red stuff packed and wrapped and stacked in the cold section of the store. This one particular day I looked into the cooler and spotted a label that read - "Cow Tongue"....

Cow tongue???? Cow tongue!!!! I was startled - I asked mom if that meant it was actually from a cow`s mouth - and she said yah - it was...

I was horrified, a million pictures came to my mind - questions like - was that cow alive or dead when it`s tongue was stollen from him/her? Was it from a cald, a mom, and bull?? I decided I would not eat any of it - no cows, no pigs, no chickens...

I was in grade 7 and I decided not to eat meat. I would eat all the other food on my plate and then put the meat in my mouth and sit for a minute, then I would leave the table and go hide the meat in toilet paper and flush!

Grade 7 health class came along and scared the heck out of me! We were learning ablout the food groups, and up came the protien group. "You need protien to survive" the teacher said.
